An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paraplanner to join a leading financial services firm based in Welwyn, Hertfordshire. This position has become available due to the promotion of the existing member of staff to a Financial Planner role. The firm is dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalised financial planning solutions to its clients and has a strong commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planner Support: Provide support to financial planners in completing non-client-facing tasks related to the preparation and administration of recommendations.
  • Reviewing Client Needs: Collaborate with financial planners to review client information from fact finds, meeting notes, and existing records to understand the client profile, needs, and objectives.
  • Research: Conduct relevant research and gather supporting documentation and application paperwork for the advice.
  • Financial Plans: Work with financial planners to construct high-quality financial plans for clients, ensuring their accuracy, compliance, and adherence to industry regulations and internal standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure client files contain all required documentation to demonstrate compliance and suitability of advice.
  • Cashflow Modelling: Prepare lifetime cashflow modelling to develop the client’s holistic financial plan.
  • Client Queries: Handle client queries as needed.
  • Teamwork: Provide support to financial planners and other members of the paraplanning team. Collaborate with administrators to ensure they understand the advice given and their objectives.
  • Preparation for Meetings: Assist financial planners in preparing for meetings by completing valuation packs and performing other necessary tasks.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attend meetings alongside financial planners to provide support in advising clients and preparing meeting notes when required.

Key Attributes:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, with a supportive team-player attitude
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Proficiency with financial planning software and tools/reporting on common platform providers
  • Strong IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards
  • Dedication to continued professional development

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of financial products and solutions, including pensions, investments (particularly model portfolios), inheritance tax planning, and protection
  • Good understanding of UK financial regulations and compliance requirements
  • At least two years of proven experience in paraplanning
  • Qualified to Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning
