Allen & York are excited to be working with a leading UK multi-disciplinary planning consultancy, providing environmental advice to high profile clients including house builders, utility companies, conservation organisations, landowners, and public bodies.

Our client is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Senior Ecologist to play a key role in the established and highly respected team.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with landscape, master planning and archaeology/heritage colleagues, developing and delivering great outcomes for people and nature.

You'll need to hold a relevant ecology/biology degree, together with membership of CIEEM (ACIEEM or above). With extensive experience of protected species surveys, including personal species survey licences and habitat survey experience (including UKHab), you'll have a strong working knowledge of relevant wildlife legislation. An excellent communicator, you'll be proficient with MS Office software and QGIS. Highly organised, you'll have great interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues.

You will need to undertake a reasonable share of night-time surveys (typically one or two per week during the main survey season), including occasional overnight stays.

You will require a full, clean UK driving licence for this role with your own car insured for business use.

A strong technical specialism (such as bat, ornithological or botanical skills), a level 2 bat licence or FISC level 3 or above would be advantageous to this role.
