About the role of Technical Coordinator
- Deliver the product design function within the business, working with the product development teams, adopting the company philosophy and business ethos of: challenging standards, thinking outside the box, innovating design, valuing people and facilitating alternative solutions to achieve the best product design solutions.
- Motivate and facilitate external consultants in delivering the design of a project holistically translating the scheme from inception through conception to completion into a cost effective and practical solution in line with the Company's standards and reputation.
- Use the technical systems procedures to manage the quality and financial aspects of all projects and assist in delivery of appropriate reports to the Technical Manager on a diarised basis.
- Identify opportunities for improving buildability and adding value to the design product through creating an environment for successful design delivery.
- Comment effectively on contractor's design where designers package are adopted as part of a contract package.
Responsibilities of Technical Coordinator
- Providing appropriate support on each project to the Technical Manager.
- Contract management and design delivery through appointment and fee management.
- Problem solving through provision of alternative design solutions.
- Providing feedback to contractors and consultants on matters of design and specification.
- Product and market research and development.
- Contributing to the quality and financial management of the Company.
Requirements for the Technical Coordinator
- Relevant professional qualification to either Degree, HNC/HND, NVQ Level 5.
- Chartered Membership of a recognised Professional body e.g. RICS, CIOB, CIAT, RIBA etc.
- A pro-active management style with capability to manage and coordinate the design team on challenging sites.
- Effective people management of direct reports, giving feedback, direction, support, and coaching.
- Skills including assertiveness, being decisive, flexible, good time management, organised, effective at chairing / participating in meetings, works well under pressure and to strict deadlines.
