The Role:
- Help facilitate housing placements by working with private landlords and tenants to ensure a smooth transition into rental properties.
- Provide ongoing support to families, particularly Afghan and Ukrainian refugees, to help them maintain their tenancies and address any issues that arise.
- Work alongside the Homelessness Prevention and Temporary Accommodation teams to reduce rough sleeping and assist ex-offenders and former rough sleepers in securing stable housing.
- Carry out property inspections to ensure that rental units meet council standards.
- Offer advice on welfare benefits, rent payments, and tenant's rights to ensure successful tenancy continuation.
- Monitor rent payments and assist in recovering arrears from both current and previous tenants.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role, particularly in the housing sector.
- Solid knowledge of housing laws, such as the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Landlord and Tenant Law.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively manage complex situations.
- Capable of assessing tenant affordability, conducting property inspections, and providing support to vulnerable tenants facing tenancy challenges.
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is a plus.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside of regular office hours and handle emotionally difficult situations.
