Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Behaviour Support Mentor to join a reputable SEN (Special Educational Needs) School. As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance and assistance to students with diverse needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to students with behavioural difficulties, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their academic and personal goals.
  • Implement strategies and interventions to manage and improve challenging behaviours, in collaboration with teaching staff and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting confidence, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs), tailored to students' specific needs and abilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour incidents, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals, such as educational psychologists and social workers, to provide holistic support to students and their families.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6 months' experience working within a SEN environment, preferably in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of behavioural management techniques and strategies, with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
  • Hold a valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate registered on the updated service, or be willing to obtain one prior to employment.
  • Flexibility to work full-time hours, with a commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.
