The Accounts Assistant will assist the Financial Controller with the day to day tasks in connection with recording accounts information for cash management, revenue and other month end accounting tasks. The position will offer the opportunity to develop all round accounting skills and will be pivotal to the efficient functioning of the processes within the above mentioned scope of the business.

Description
- Accounts Assistant
- Check bank balances on the Internet banking systems on a daily basis and relay information to the relevant members of the team;
- Maintain a daily cash flow keeping track of bank balances and transactions;
- Input details on the Oracle cashbook on a daily basis;
- Prepare bank reconciliations for all cash accounts, deal with discrepancies on a timely basis and ensure accurate and meaningful balances are reflected in the accounts;
- Raise cheques against requests received and ensure signatures in keeping with bank mandates;
- Review and reconcile petty cash floats given out to the garages, record transactions and prepare monthly reconciliations.
General Accounting
- Monitor and keep a record of Rent and Rates and Utilities costs for all Metroline properties as well as preparing monthly accruals and prepayments schedules with regards to this;
- Preparation of various other monthly cost accruals and prepayments;
- Preparing of Monthly VAT returns for Metroline Travel and Falcon Coachworks and Engineering Services;
- Reconciling all balance Sheets related to the relevant areas of responsibility on a monthly basis;
- Preparation of Monthly accounts review packs for all the Metroline garages as well as other cost units;
- Preparation of various other reporting packs with the requirements of the business;
- Preparation of Annual Budgets and monthly rolling forecasts for all accounts within the sphere of responsibility;
- Providing cover for the duties of other Accounts Assistants during holidays;
- Prepare and submit National Statistics for business survey data;
Liaise with relevant government bodies regarding VAT, rates or any other
- relevant matter within the sphere of responsibility;
- Undertake such duties as may reasonably be required by the Finance Manager;
- Any other ad hoc responsibilities as and when required by the business;

Profile
- Basic accounting qualification like AAT, or similar;
- Demonstrable experience of working within a finance team;
- Exposure to day to day accounting entries and procedures within sub ledgers within an accounting system;
- Exposure to Oracle accounting system (desirable);
- Proficient user of Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
Flexible approach to working hours.
- Ability to plan, multitask and organise work to meet deadlines;
- Ability to think creatively and be proactive in making progress;
- Exceptional customer service skills with a natural flair of providing support and guidance and going 'the extra mile';
- Be a good team player and show a willingness to try new tasks and help out other team members as and when required;
