We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Careers Advisor to join our supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in guiding students through their educational journey, helping them explore career paths, and equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for their next steps into further education, training, or employment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored careers advice and guidance to students, helping them understand the range of educational and career opportunities available.
  • Develop and deliver career education programs, workshops, and events, including university visits, apprenticeships, and work experience opportunities.
  • Work closely with students, parents, and teachers to support the creation of individual career action plans.
  • Keep up to date with current labor market information, university and apprenticeship pathways, and changes in education policy to provide informed advice.
  • Foster partnerships with local employers, higher education institutions, and community organizations to enhance career opportunities for students.
  • Ensure the school meets its statutory duties for careers guidance as per the Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Support students with personal development skills, including CV writing, interview techniques, and job application processes.
  • Track and record student progress in relation to careers education, preparing reports for senior leadership and external stakeholders as required.
Person Specification:
  • Experience in a similar careers advisory role within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of the current education and training landscape, including university admissions, apprenticeships, and vocational pathways.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, staff, and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • A passion for helping young people realize their potential and achieve their aspirations.
  • A relevant qualification in careers guidance (e.g., Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development) is desirable but not essential.
