This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional to take on a leadership role, managing the financial operations of two large schools within the trust. The position is available for an immediate start, and flexibility is offered for candidates seeking a 4-day work week.

About the Role:As the Senior School Finance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial management and strategy for two schools. This is a key leadership position, requiring you to work closely with senior leaders, governors, and external stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability and support the schools' wider strategic aims. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong background in school finance or education sector financial management, who is ready to take on a significant leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all aspects of financial management for two schools, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies to support the schools' long-term goals
  • Managing school budgets and ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and in line with educational priorities
  • Monitoring income and expenditure, preparing financial reports, and advising on financial performance
  • Leading and managing the finance team to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the schools' financial operations
  • Ensuring compliance with all statutory financial regulations, audit requirements, and funding agreements
  • Working closely with senior leadership teams to contribute to strategic planning and decision-making
  • Liaising with external auditors, funding bodies, and other stakeholders
  • Leading on procurement, contract management, and financial risk management
  • Managing payroll, pensions, and other employee financial matters

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a School Business Manager, Senior Finance Manager, or similar role within the education sector
  • Strong financial acumen, with a track record of successfully managing large budgets and financial operations
  • Experience of working in multi-academy trusts or managing multiple schools is desirable
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team and work collaboratively with senior leadership
  • Detailed knowledge of financial regulations and compliance in the education sector
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure
  • Experience with financial management software and systems used in schools
