A local government body is seeking a Head of Finance for a contract role. This pivotal position will oversee financial planning, control, and strategic direction within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing financial planning and control activities
- Directing staff and supervising wider groups of employees across various projects
- Providing expert advice on technical accounting and sector-specific financial issues
- Driving business process transformation projects to enhance efficiency and financial control
- Building robust relationships with senior managers, partners, and stakeholders to improve organisational performance
- Overseeing commercial and contract negotiations and investment appraisals
Job Requirements:
- Must have experience of managing Capital or Treasury within a local government setting
- CCAB Qualified Accountant (preferably CIPFA), with significant post-qualification experience and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Extensive knowledge of one or more specialist and complex areas of either technical accounting or relevant sector knowledge
- Extensive knowledge in specialist and complex areas of technical accounting or relevant sector knowledge
- Track record of achievement at a management level within a large and complex organisation
- Demonstrable experience of advising on financial planning, accounting, and control
- Proven experience in building strong relationships with senior stakeholders to improve performance
- Experience in implementing business process transformation projects
