Junior Fabric Technologist - Responsibilities
- Duties will be dependent upon experience level:
- Working with fabric suppliers to sample or develop fabrics required.
- To ensure fabric sourcing and innovation is in line with our strategic sourcing of garments.
- To ensure fabric developments are cost effective.
- To ensure all colours required are lab dyed, submitted to the customer and approved and distributed to relevant factories.
- To discuss and agree solutions with suppliers if test results are sub standard
- To risk assess new fabrics.
- To ensure all fibre composition testing is complete and appropriate care labels issued.
- To ensure all technical files are kept up to date.
Junior Fabric Technologist - Skills and Requirements:
- A degree or diploma in Fashion, or Textile Technology, Textile Science, or a related field.
- Previous experience (internships or entry-level roles) in textiles, fabrics, or material development.
- Basic understanding of fabric properties, manufacturing processes, and testing methods.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Passion for textiles and sustainability in the fashion or textile industry.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and open to feedback for continuous improvement.
