Head of M&E - interim

Head of M&E - Interim assignment - 4 months +

We are seeking an experienced Head of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) for an interim position. The successful candidate will lead the M&E Team to ensure statutory compliance across various maintenance domains and play a strategic role in the Customer Services Directorate.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Lead the M&E Team to achieve statutory compliance in areas such as Gas Servicing, Lift Maintenance, Asbestos, Electrical Testing, and more.
• Manage damp and water ingress across the portfolio, including works and tenant management.
• Contribute proactively to business planning, manage service areas to cover staff absence, service improvement, and achieve high customer satisfaction.
• Oversee direct reports including Electrical Contracts Manager, Gas Servicing Manager, Planned Works Admin Team Leader, and Damp and Water Ingress Contracts Manager.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High level of knowledge of M&E service issues and the regulatory framework.
• Awareness of the strategic property investment needs of the company.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in partnering, procurement mechanisms, management best practices, building practice and law, and landlord and tenant issues.
• Understanding of contract law, statutory regulations, British standards in relation to repair and investment contracts.
• Strategic understanding of service delivery and interfacing with other sections and agencies.
• Excellent customer care, staff management, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage and lead external consultants and contractors within a performance management & improvement culture.
• Competency in contributing to, monitoring, and controlling budgets.
• Effective resource management to achieve business objectives.
• Must have a car and a valid driver’s licence.
