Key Responsibilities as a Head of Religious Education:

  • Department Leadership: Lead the Religious Education department, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student achievement.
  • Curriculum Management: Develop and oversee an engaging and inclusive Religious Education curriculum, promoting knowledge, understanding, and critical thinking skills.
  • Teaching Excellence: Deliver outstanding lessons and act as a role model to staff and students, fostering a love of learning.
  • Team Development: Mentor and support staff within the department, inspiring collaboration and continuous professional development.
  • Student Progress: Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing strategies to ensure individual and group achievement.
  • Promote Engagement: Encourage a deep understanding of diverse beliefs and values, fostering respect and inclusivity among students.

Essential Requirements for Head of Religious Education:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Demonstrated expertise in Religious Education.
  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience leading or managing within a department.
  • Strong Subject Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Religious Education curricula across Key Stages.
  • Inspirational Leadership: Ability to motivate and lead a team of educators.
  • Commitment to Student Success: Passion for helping all students achieve their full potential academically and personally.
  • Enhanced DBS: Hold an enhanced child workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
