About the Role:
We are looking for a caring, compassionate, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join our team at [School Name]. This role involves working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing tailored support to ensure they can thrive in an inclusive learning environment. The position includes supporting students with personal care needs, as well as assisting with manual handling tasks where necessary. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with a range of SEN, ensuring their inclusion and engagement in class activities.
- Assist students with personal care tasks, including toileting, dressing, and hygiene as required.
- Support students with manual handling needs, following proper procedures and guidelines to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Help students with mobility needs, supporting them in navigating the school environment and assisting with transfers, as necessary.
- Promote students' emotional, social, and educational development through positive encouragement and support.
- Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Support students with learning tasks, ensuring that they are working in an inclusive and supportive manner.
- Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback to the teaching team on their achievements and areas for development.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children, ideally within an SEN setting, though training can be provided.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn about personal care procedures and manual handling practices.
- Empathy, patience, and a passion for working with children with SEN.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
- A proactive, flexible attitude with a commitment to ensuring the well-being of students.
