Talent STEM is working with a well-established chemical manufacturer in the West Midlands to recruit a Chemical Engineer to join their team. This company specialises in complex chemical synthesis, supplying products to the pharmaceutical, agrochemical and speciality chemicals sectors worldwide.
The role
Reporting to the Senior Chemical Engineer, you will be responsible for optimising and modifying existing chemical processes and plant operations. Key responsibilities include:
? Designing, implementing and commissioning plant modifications, ensuring compliance with safety and hazard assessments (HAZOPs).
? Conducting risk assessments, hazard analysis and advising on testing programmes to obtain process data.
? Ensuring all engineering work aligns with statutory regulations and best practices.
? Collaborating with project engineers to develop plant layouts, costings and proposals.
? Providing chemical engineering expertise to process improvement teams and supporting R&D in process development.
? Leading specific projects and ensuring timely completion to performance targets.
What you’ll need
? A degree in chemical engineering (or equivalent).
? Relevant industrial experience.
? Strong knowledge of process design, plant modifications and safety assessments.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
? Process development and optimisation.
? On-plant commissioning and troubleshooting.
? COMAH regulations and implementation.
? DSEAR methodology.
? SIL and LOPA assessments.
? Relief system sizing and DIERS methodology.
