The Estate Fire Safety and Statutory Compliance Officer will oversee and ensure fire safety and statutory compliance across all college properties at Sandwell College. This role requires expertise in fire safety regulations, statutory compliance and risk management to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. The officer will be responsible for delivering fire safety, conducting regular audits and inspections, and ensuring all estates comply with legal requirements.Implement and monitor fire safety strategies and procedures across the College's estate.Support on fire risk assessments, fire drills, and ensure emergency procedures are in place and updated. Deliver the actions raised in any Fire Risk Assessment to ensure the safe operation of the Estate.Coordinate and oversee fire safety training for staff, including fire wardens and first responders.Ensure that all fire safety systems (e.g., alarms, extinguishers, emergency lighting) are regularly tested, maintained, and compliant with statutory requirements.Supporting the investigation of fire incidents and near-misses and implement recommended improvements.Oversee compliance with all relevant building and estate-related regulations, including health and safety, electrical safety, gas safety, asbestos management, and water hygiene (Legionella).To be the responsible person for the College for all Asbestos, Legionella and any other statutory estate requirements.Conduct and review statutory risk assessments, including for legionella, asbestos, gas, electrical safety, and emergency lighting.
