Maintenance Electrician
Location - Smethwick
The ideal candidate would have a strong electrical engineering background within a steel manufacturing industry and could hit the floor running. An effective team member but capable of working under their own initiative. Dependable, reliable and trustworthy. Must be able to carry out planned maintenance tasks and repairs to a high standard of workmanship.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Maintain all plant equipment to standards expected.
- Completion of preventative maintenance tasks.
- Fault find and carry out repairs.
- Involvement in projects like new installations and relocating of new and existing equipment.
- Ensure safe working practices are always adhered to.
- Record and document work completed using PC/Mobile based maintenance software.
- To occasionally work across multi-site locations (local).
- To be able to work unsupervised or as part of a team and follow procedures as required.
- Be Dependable, trustworthy with an excellent time & attendance record.
Role Requirements
- 5+ year's experience as a maintenance electrician/engineer within the steel or automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems & electrical maintenance practices
- Experienced in electrical fault finding and repairs
- Qualified to carry out electrical installations
- A strong understanding of safe systems of work.
- Experience in electrical control systems with the ability to fault find.
- Experience in preventive maintenance practices
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
- The ability to work safely under own supervision or as part of a team.
- Competent to use a CMMS on PC/Mobile
- Working knowledge of PLCs for fault finding
- For Multi skilled, must have had at least 5 year's experience on mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic repairs, Maintenance and fault finding.
Desired Skills
- Inspection & testing qualified (18th edition)
- Experience of power press maintenance
- Experience in the maintenance of sheet metal working machinery (Guillotines. Press-brakes, rolling mills)
Education/QualificationsÂ
- City & Guilds or B tech qualification in electrical installation or maintenance
- Served a recognised apprenticeship
- Forklift / MEWP licence Desirable
