The Opportunity:Are you ready to take on a pivotal role at a state-of-the-art energy facility? We’re seeking a skilled Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager to join an innovative and forward-thinking business at an exciting stage of its development. This cutting-edge facility is set to transform waste management in the UK, diverting hundreds of thousands of tonnes of non-recyclable waste from landfills and converting it into renewable energy to power thousands of homes.
This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in guiding the site’s journey from the final stages of construction through commissioning to full operation. You'll also have the chance to shape the future workforce and embed a culture of excellence in Health, Safety, and Environmental practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee compliance with the Environmental Management System, including internal and external audits, and the development of policies and procedures.
- Inspire and influence teams to adopt strong Health & Safety practices, embedding a positive safety culture throughout the facility.
- Lead environmental monitoring and reporting programs, ensuring all regulatory and permit requirements are met.
- Prepare and present regular reports on Health, Safety, and Environmental (ESG) performance, tracking KPIs and driving continuous improvement.
- Drive incident reporting, investigations, and risk management processes to ensure operational safety.
- Support the site management team with Safe System of Work (SSOW) and Permit to Work (PTW) systems.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permit application specifications, including biodiversity and landscape management plans.
What We’re Looking For:
- A degree or equivalent in an Environmental or Health and Safety-related field, or substantial experience in a regulatory or supervisory role (desirable).
- Strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental excellence, with a passion for continuous improvement.
- Attention to detail and a professional approach to confidentiality.
