Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for control systems and a drive to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a Controls Engineer to join our team and take on a pivotal role in maintaining and developing our electrical systems while undergoing coninuous development and leadership skills.
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineer to embark on a development program, combining hands-on technical work with leadership training.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical Standards: Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, company standards, and site Electrical Code of Practice (ECOPS).
- Project Management: Oversee electrical projects from specification to commissioning, ensuring adherence to budgets and quality standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Provide expert fault diagnosis and repair assistance for plant equipment and site services.
- PLC Systems: Upgrade, maintain, and document site PLC systems (Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley).
- Training and Development: Identify training needs for the electrical team and issue Authorisation and Competency certificates.
- Safety and Compliance: Act as site Electrical Duty Holder, championing electrical safety and managing compliance processes such as PAT and electrical testing.
- Team Leadership: Support team coordination, skills allocation, and continuous improvement activities.
Essential:
- Time-served apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical engineering with proven experience.
- Proficient in PLC programming (Mitsubishi and Allen Bradley training provided)
- Strong knowledge of electrical legislation, safety standards, and isolation procedures.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- PC literacy, including experience with SCADA systems.
- Effective communication and decision-making skills.
Desirable:
- Electrical NVQ Level 3 / HND or Degree.
- Experience in general management or team leadership.
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI) techniques.
- Knowledge of GMP, food hygiene standards, or baking processes.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or IOSH certification.
