We are seeking an experienced and driven Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of operations for our client, a commercial and industrial roofing company. This role will involve managing the planning, execution, and delivery of roofing projects, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and quality compliance. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership skills, industry expertise, and a passion for achieving excellence.

Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee commercial and industrial roofing projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Work closely with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to maintain smooth workflows.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues that may arise promptly.
  • Lead and manage the operations team, including field staff and subcontractors.
  • Develop team capabilities through training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and priorities.
  • Oversee procurement, stock control, and equipment management.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery.
  • Plan and manage logistics to ensure materials are available at the right place and time.
  • Implement and maintain robust health and safety procedures in line with UK regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure all personnel adhere to safety standards.
  • Ensure all projects meet legal and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and uphold quality standards across all projects.
  • Address customer concerns promptly, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and identify improvements.
  • Analyse operational performance and prepare regular reports for senior management.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability.
  • Support the company's long-term strategy for growth and innovation.

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an operational role within the roofing industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.
  • Knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and techniques.
  • Familiarity with UK Health and Safety legislation.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • SMSTS, IOSH/NEBOSH are desirable.
