We are looking for a motivated toolmaker/tooling engineer to join a market leading manufacturer. Reporting directly to the Technical Director you will be a key member in ensuring the production facility is kept running. With progressive training and development this company is always looking to enhance its employees and their skill sets, whilst additionally being supported by a welcoming team of engineers. The position will appeal to a strong engineer looking for their next challenging role within in a secure and stable company.

Role Description:

  • To liase with customer Engineers and subcontractors to ensure effective two-way communication on technical programmes.
  • To ensure that technical aspects are achieved and meet business objectives, ie. Cost (unit cost, capital cost and tooling), quality and timing.
  • To co-ordinate the efforts of both internal and external tool and gauge manufactures and press shops to achieve project objectives from start of project to start of production.
  • To participate in first sight feasibility reviews.
  • To liase with engineering to achieve resolutions to engineering concerns and report status at project review meetings.
  • To hold regular meetings with subcontractors and liase with customer Engineering teams to review timing plans.
  • To ensure all engineering administrative aspects of the company are in line with our quality procedure.
  • To have an active involvement in improvement activities to support the achievement of departmental and company objectives.
  • Equipment/Tooling specification, installation and commissioning.
  • Tooling design and development.
  • Control of costs to an agreed budget and time frame.
  • Flexible approach to working patterns that are commensurate to meeting project objectives, including UK and overseas travel.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experienced press tooling process/production engineer or technician
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • PC literate. Knowledge of Catia V5, Forming suite and Auto form would be advantageous.
  • Press Tooling and Toolmaker base knowledge
  • Calm and meticulous attention to detail.
