Thatcher Associates are pleased to be working with an established and innovative construction company that has an opening for a BMS Engineer / Manager.

The hiring business predominantly constructs and maintains data centres. Cap Ex values range from £20M to £100M.

This role has become available due to considerable growth and our client can offer training and development to the successful applicant.

Role Overview

Our client requires a BMS Engineer / Technical Service Engineer who will be based from the client's flagship site near Hays. The key job junction is monitoring and maintaining the M&S systems in a large data centre, diagnosing and troubleshooting software & hardware problems, primarily with Trend and Tridium BMS Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify solutions to software and hardware issues
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including controls setup and network configuration
  • Carrying out BMS PPM tasks
  • Ask customers targeted questions to quickly understand the root of the problem
  • Track controls system issues through to resolution, within agreed time limits
  • Talk clients through a series of actions, either via phone, email, or face to face, until they’ve solved a technical issue
  • Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g., software engineers)
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
  • Refer to internal database or external resources to provide accurate tech solutions
  • Ensure all issues are properly logged
  • Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time
  • Follow up with clients to ensure their IT systems are fully functional after troubleshooting
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports
  • Document technical knowledge in the form of notes and manuals

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a service Engineer, Technician, or similar role
  • Hands-on experience
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues
  • Familiarity with remote desktop applications
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
  • Tridium AX & N4 Experience
  • Trend Experience
  • System Commissioning
  • You should hold qualifications in a relevant field, such as Electrical Installation or Controls Software Engineering.
  • Able to provide timely and accurate solutions to their technical problems. If you enjoy assisting people with technical issues and are able to explain technical details simply, this is the role for you.
