Senior Project Manager

Salary £50,000 pa Plus Profit Related Bonus Scheme & Company Car / Car Allowance

Remote Working With regular travel to UK Project Sites & occasional travel to the office in Kent

This superb UK engineering company undertakes the full project lifecycle from system design, right through to the commissioning and ongoing maintenance of freshwater and wastewater solutions for companies & sites across the UK.

Now seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager with solid Mechanical or Electrical knowledge, the senior PM will take the lead on new projects from initial client enquiry, through the bid/proposal stage and on into design. Once the project has been awarded and the solution built by the engineering team, the Senior Project Manager leads & co-ordinates the successful onsite commissioning by the project engineers.

The Senior Project Manager needs to be an excellent communicator & people person, with a good track record & passion for building effective client relationships for current and future project opportunities. Additionally, previous experience in developing new business opportunities & sales alongside managing awarded projects is ideal.

Whilst specific experience of project managing freshwater or wastewater engineering projects with values from £25,000 - £250,000 would be great, the hiring manager is also able to offer training for interested candidates from similar or aligned environments including Aviation, Airports/Terminals, Utilities, Civil Engineering, Construction, Rail etc.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Performing a wide array of Mechanical and Electrical, civil design, planning, construction support and client management services across all sectors served.
  • Planning, directing and monitoring all aspects of small and large multi-discipline projects involving design, estimating, new sales opportunities and growth of the project business.
  • Providing leadership for projects and developing an environment which encourages great teamwork, initiative and growth.
  • Guiding project teams on complex technical issues.
  • Providing supervision, coordination and production for several projects concurrently.
  • Building and maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Getting actively involved with company marketing & business development, using your ability to engage with clients and win new work.
  • Developing strategy, preparing proposals, negotiating contracts and executing projects.
  • Coordinating staffing plans and workloads though the entire project development, while meeting agreed project schedules and budgets.
  • Controlling overall project costs and scope, scheduling and the quality of work.
  • Implementing project QA/QC and working with internal departments.
  • Preparing engineering design reports, project documents, construction plans and contract documents including technical specifications.
  • Providing significant design and construction oversight for multiple clients.

Skills & Experience:

  • Good experience as a Project Manager with Mechanical or Electrical experience.
  • Experience in managing engineering projects within Water, Aviation, Airports/Terminals, Utilities, Hospitality, Retail, Road or Rail sectors.
  • The ability to collaborate and co-ordinate with design teams consisting of multi-discipline design engineers and technicians.
  • Excellent communication & people skills with a track record of successful project delivery working closely with clients, funding agencies and/or regulators as applicable.
  • The ability to utilise existing client relationships and your own network to develop new business & future Sales opportunities.
  • A bachelor’s degree (preferred but not mandatory) in an Engineering discipline or related experience.
  • An APM, PRINCE II or similar project management qualification would be useful, alternatively, support can be given for those interested in taking the qualifications.
  • Able to travel to client and project sites across multiple UK locations (typically from the Midlands and south from there).
  • Experienced in managing projects with values typically between £20k to 250k is useful.
