Responsibilities
The CDD Analyst is responsible for conducting thorough reviews of overnight screening alerts, researching potential matches against sanctions and criminal lists to confirm or disprove links to bank customers. They will apply AML regulations and JMLSG requirements to ensure compliance. In addition, they will perform detailed due diligence on overseas incoming and outgoing payments, utilizing appropriate resources and assigning risk ratings to transactions. The Analyst will also prepare reports for managerial review when high-risk cases are identified, including documentation related to sanctions or potential entity matches.
The role involves reviewing new account applications and trigger events, ensuring all necessary documents are accurate and complete. The Analyst must verify ID and V documents for compliance with AML policies and carry out additional searches when required. They will oversee periodic account reviews based on assigned risk levels, including enhanced due diligence for high-risk customers and PEPs, documenting any material changes in these accounts.
A key aspect of the role is requesting and following up on outstanding customer documentation to meet AML requirements, escalating unresolved cases to the Team Manager when necessary. The Analyst will maintain accurate customer records and ensure all audit reports are actioned within agreed timelines to mitigate financial or reputational risks.
The Analyst will provide clear advice and guidance on AML and KYC legislation and processes to internal teams and customers. They are expected to challenge existing policies and procedures based on personal expertise to drive improvements. The role includes responding promptly to customer queries, meeting service standards and delivering efficient, professional support.
As part of their duties, the Analyst will attend meetings with prospective and current customers to explain AML and onboarding requirements, ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood. They will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver excellent customer service.
The Analyst will deliver AML and customer due diligence training to colleagues and stakeholders, offer peer support, and guide less experienced staff, fostering a supportive team environment. They will also contribute to achieving team and individual goals as agreed with the Line Manager. Other responsibilities include signing off high-value transactions, unusual activities, and third-party receipts following due diligence, and escalating unresolved or complex cases to the Team Leader with detailed investigations and rationale. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Line Manager as needed.
