Job Title: Marine Claims Handler

Location: Kent/Hybrid

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 pa + benefits

The Company

We are pleased to be working with a long standing claims specialist, based in Kent. Who are offering expert services in marine insurance. With a focus on tailored solutions, the team handles a wide range of marine claims, including cargo, hull, and yacht, providing a personalized, professional, and efficient service to clients across the UK and Europe.

The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in handling predominantly Marine Trades and/or small Pleasure/Small Craft/Yacht claims. Experience in handling claims across the UK and Europe will be considered, as will broader experience across a variety of marine business classes such as Hull & Machinery (H&M) and Cargo. Knowledge of Professional Indemnity (PI) and Property claims would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities & Required Skills

  • Preparing and issuing First Notice of Loss (FNOL) and setting up all new claims on the account
  • Management and adjustment of outsourced claims under Delegated Authority
  • Accurately assessing and maintaining claim indemnity and fee reserves
  • Liaising with and appointing experts and lawyers as appropriate
  • Identifying subrogation opportunities and coordinating with the recoveries department
  • Updating and submitting Monthly Claims Bordereaux
  • Preparing and issuing monthly Third Party Administrator (TPA) invoices for agreement and payment
  • Preparing Quarterly Management Information (MI) reporting for clients
  • Regularly liaising with underwriters, surveyors, brokers, lawyers, and other third parties
  • Experience using Claims Management Systems (ECF experience is not essential but would be an advantage)
  • Strong written communication skills are essential
  • Attending regular client and broker meetings both in London and regionally
  • Reporting complex claims to the Account Manager and preparing coverage referrals
  • Assisting with general marketing and maintaining existing client relationships
