We are seeking a Payroll Assistant to join our team. This role involves facilitating the accurate input and validation of all payroll information, ensuring timely and accurate salary processing within strict deadlines. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing new legislation and maintaining payroll system integrity.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work as part of a team to accurately input and validate payroll information, ensuring successful salary processing within strict deadlines.
  • Ensure all appropriate statutory and non-statutory deductions are applied to salary payments.
  • Play a key role in the implementation of new legislation, such as the Health and Social Care Levy Bill, and adapt to changes in HMRC PAYE scheme operations.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly expense payments using the ERP (SAP) system.
  • Address and rectify pay errors promptly, ensuring they are recorded for statistical analysis and business process improvement.
  • Handle third-party enquiries from external bodies such as rental agencies and legal firms via letter, phone, or email.
  • Assist in the electronic dispatch of payslips, P60s, P11ds, and other payroll-related materials.
  • Support and collaborate with team members, contributing to a cohesive team environment.
  • Provide assistance to Employee Relations and HR Shared Services with general enquiries and duties as needed.
  • Participate in system testing due to payroll system configurations or year-end updates.
  • Engage in project work involving payroll-related topics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in payroll processing and administration.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Understanding of statutory and non-statutory payroll deductions.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and precision.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
