About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a vibrant and supportive SEMH School in Southend-on-Sea. This long-term role offers you the chance to work closely with young learners who require extra guidance and understanding to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Contract: Long-term, full-time
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Education and training
Your Responsibilities
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students to create a safe and nurturing environment.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support tailored to individual student needs.
- Assist in the implementation of behaviour management plans, promoting positive choices and emotional resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to deliver a tailored curriculum that inspires engagement and progress.
- Help students develop key social skills and self-confidence, both in and out of the classroom.
- Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Support with emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and fostering a sense of achievement.
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ASD, or similar challenges.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviours with positivity and understanding.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development.
- Experience in an SEMH, PRU, or SEN setting.
- Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training (or willingness to undertake training).
