Production Scheduler
Salary: £35,000
Location: Weston-super-Mare
Role Overview
The Production Scheduler will manage production planning activities across multiple sites, ensuring realistic timelines for manufacturing processes are established and adhered to. Utilising a dedicated planning tool, this role plays a pivotal part in streamlining workflows and supporting the organisation's operational efficiency while meeting business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee production scheduling for two operational sites.
- Input accurate data into the capacity planning system to support seamless production processes.
- Generate and deliver regular production performance reports for all manufacturing units, ensuring clear visibility of operations.
- Issue work orders to the Works Manager for allocation across production teams.
- Collaborate with the Procurement team to confirm materials availability aligns with production schedules.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in process times and planning data, working closely with the Process Improvement Lead.
- Monitor production priorities to optimise efficiency and minimise delays.
- Provide real-time updates on production order status, ensuring clear communication of any necessary schedule adjustments to internal teams.
- Update delayed orders with revised timelines, ensuring accurate communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Alert stakeholders to potential delays at least one week in advance of due dates.
- Review overall production capacity regularly and adjust work orders as necessary to align with current demand.
- Ensure planning supports key performance targets, such as On-Time Release (OTR) and On-Time Completion (OTC), and report any deviations.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in using planning tools and software to manage workflows.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to address scheduling conflicts and anomalies.
- Skilled in generating detailed reports and providing actionable insights.
- Ability to collaborate across departments, including Procurement and Commercial teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or a related role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Knowledge of lean management practices is highly advantageous.
- Formal qualifications in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain management preferred.
