Cover Coordinator and Business Support Administrator

We are seeking a dedicated Administration Coordinator to join our exciting secondary school team in Worle. The main purpose of this role is to organise cover for absent teachers and provide comprehensive business support services. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the school, contributing to our overall aims and working within our policies and procedures.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Organise cover for teaching and pastoral duties of absent teachers in line with academy policy.
  • Deploy teachers, supply staff, and cover supervisors to cover absences and emergencies efficiently.
  • Provide cover details to staff at the start of the day and update desktop cover information as needed.
  • Ensure supply staff are familiar with academy procedures, including emergency evacuation and health and safety.
  • Distribute cover work and act as the main point of contact for cover-related issues.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of supply staff and report any concerns to the line manager.
  • Provide administrative support to staff, managing communication with parents/carers.
  • Undertake routine clerical and typing work, using Microsoft Office Programmes to produce documents.
  • Answer telephone calls, take messages, and respond to routine enquiries.
  • Run reports from SIMS and maintain accurate records in compliance with data legislation.
  • Liaise with central business teams, including HR and finance, and support the HR team with sickness absence reporting.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including English and Maths at grade C or above.
  • Previous administrative experience in a busy environment.
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workload under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and competent in IT skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint.
