Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor (South Bristol)
About the Role:
A well-established and highly regarded main contractor in South Bristol is seeking a motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved in a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage tender submissions and procurement for subcontracts and packages.
- Carry out cost planning, cost control, and budgeting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site visits and ensure that costs are in line with budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor project progress, valuing works and managing the monthly payment cycle.
- Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.
- Identify and assess risk, managing change controls and variations.
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members and assist with the preparation of reports for senior management.
- Manage relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring smooth communication and delivery of projects.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within a main contractor environment.
- Experience with NEC and JCT contracts.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, cost management, and tendering.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field (MRICS or working towards chartership is desirable but not essential).
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant Quantity Surveying software.
