Fabricator/Welder

Location:BS24 (Weston-Super-Mare)

Type:Full-Time

Salary:£15.00 - £17.50 Per Hour

About Us:Our client based in Weston-Super-Mare (BS24), specialise in delivering top-quality fabrication and welding services to our clients. We are seeking a skilled Fabricator/Welder to join our team, contributing to the high standards of our production processes and ensuring that client specifications are met with precision and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication:

  • Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings accurately.
  • Assemble steel components using hand-held tools and equipment.
  • Understand and adhere to client specifications.
  • Operate overhead cranes and apply safe slinging and lifting techniques to assist fabrications.
  • Work in accordance with SAM quality procedures.
  • Assist in training and developing SAM apprentices.
  • Comply with SAM Health & Safety requirements.

Welding:

  • Perform welding on steel of varying grades and thicknesses with marked-up weld details.
  • Execute fillet welding and butt welding with both full and partial penetration joints.
  • Conduct welding in down-hand and positional configurations, predominantly using the MAG welding process.
  • Adhere to governing welding procedure specifications.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of welding operations, including preheat application, interpass temperature control, etc.
  • Complete a minimum of two weld tests as part of the application process.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Completion of a formal Sheetmetal/Fabrication apprenticeship.
  • Experience in MIG welding.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work to SAM quality procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining clean and tidy work areas and adherence to the 5S philosophy.
  • Willingness to take direction from Supervisors and follow instructions.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently when not under direct supervision.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding technical documents, including drawings.
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, meet targets, and achieve deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop personal skills and mentor apprentices.
