Management Accountant | Wetherby | £40,000 - £50,000

We are seeking a Management Accountant to join a well-established, industry-leading company with a national presence. As a crucial part of the finance team, this role will report directly to the Financial Controller and offer exciting opportunities for growth and development. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing monthly management accounts, supporting multiple branches, and providing financial insights to business partners.

What is expected from a Management Accountant:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts for various branches, including managing accruals, prepayments, and journal entries
  • Support branch directors in interpreting financial results and improving performance
  • Manage and mentor up to 3 junior team members, overseeing their tasks and contributing to their professional development
  • Assist in annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Lead process improvements and reporting, using advanced Excel skills
  • Oversee payroll processes and assist with new system implementations
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including branch directors, regional directors, and finance colleagues

A Successful Management Accountant will be:

  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA) with post-qualified experience
  • At least 2 years of experience producing monthly management accounts
  • Minimum of 1 year of management experience, including team development
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to handle large datasets and build complex reports
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement
  • Knowledge of payroll processing (desirable)
  • Experience in the distribution or construction industry (desirablebut not essential)
  • Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented with a focus on team success

External: External Auditors; Suppliers; Customers
