We are seeking a dedicated BSL Teaching Assistant to join a specialist team in the Wetherby area, supporting students with a range of complex needs. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a competitive daily pay rate of £90 - £110. Full-time roles are available for immediate start.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support for students with complex learning and communication needs, using BSL to facilitate understanding and connection.
  • Offer personal care as needed, maintaining each student's comfort, dignity, and well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to deliver personalised learning plans and support students' participation in classroom activities.
  • Promote a calm and supportive environment, using positive reinforcement to encourage engagement.
  • Assist during transitions, mealtimes, and break periods to ensure students' safety and comfort.
  • Help prepare and organise materials, adapting resources to meet sensory and learning needs.
  • Communicate with teachers, families, and other staff, providing regular updates on student progress and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (BSL), with experience in an educational or care setting preferred.
  • Experience working with children or young adults with complex needs, ideally in a specialist setting.
  • Knowledge of personal care procedures, with a respectful and compassionate approach.
  • Strong communication skills, with a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and a dedication to making a positive impact in the lives of students.
  • DBS check required (or willingness to complete).
