I am currently working with a specialist school in the Wetherby area who are seeking a dedicated and proactive BSL Teaching Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with SEND, be able to provide vital support to a diverse group of learners and be highly competent and confident in BSL.

This specialist school is committed to creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported. Their aim is to embrace diversity and recognise each child's strengths through differentiation whilst also placing emphasis on active learning strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for all students.
  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students, utilising your BSL skills to effectively communicate and facilitate learning.
  • Assist learners and abide by their educational goals outlined in their EHCP.
  • Differentiate learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that embraces communication in all forms.
  • Monitor and report on learner progress, highlighting areas of strength and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Assist with classroom management and organisation, ensuring a safe and stimulating learning environment.
