About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEN school in North Leeds. This full-time position involves supporting students with additional learning needs, including autism. The school caters to children and young people aged 3 to 19 years with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage students in learning activities tailored to their individual needs.
  • Build meaningful and supportive relationships with students.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support classroom teachers in managing student behavior and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed.
  • Help students with personal care tasks, where necessary.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly autism.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special education is desirable.
