Role: Product Manager – Wetherby  

Elevation Recruitment Group - Marketing Division are excited to be working with a design and manufacturing business who are on the lookout to grow their team with the addition of a Product Manager.  

Salary: £40k-£50k DOE   

Hours: office hours Monday to Friday – flexible to start between 08:00am and 09:30am

Job Overview:

As Product Manager, you will work within a multi-brand, multi-territory group with operations underpinned by an in-house developed technology, ecommerce, and native app platform.

With challenging growth targets it’s an exciting time to join the business, bringing process, building robust roadmaps and applying product management principles to an already successful product team.

As Product Manager you will lead the roadmap development based on an understanding of the end consumer, product solutions and the competitive set. You will work cross functionally to ensure a cradle to grave approach, progressing product with a sustainable message.

As Product Manager you will be responsible for the roadmap for the business across a wide spectrum of categories. You will drive the roadmap from consumer insights, competitor analysis and technological innovations. Working with the Marketing team to develop the content, description and user propositions for the products for all routes to market including B2C & B2B.

Teaming up with the Purchasing team, you will brief sourced products, specifications and target pricing, having developed a margin enhancing value chain which maximises your margin mix.

Your communication skills should allow you to speak with all levels of the business and project management skills will ensure that projects are timely and efficient.

Managing the existing portfolio, proposing value engineering ideas to maximise margins and life cycle management will ensure the core business is healthy and a solid basis on which to grow.

Main duties include:

  • Roadmap ownership – driving consumer insights into product solutions that align with the company’s strategic direction. Working with the digital marketing team to extract consumer data and utilise to understand consumer insights and translate to product solutions.
  • Ongoing range management – understand product mix, margin maximisation, returns details, value engineering and product life cycle management.
  • New product development – proposal and development of new products into the company. Commercialisation of these proposals via business cases and presentation to Board level stakeholders for approval.
  • Project manage the timely delivery of NPD projects, working cross functionally and providing concise and efficient communications.
  • Product propositioning, highlighting key USPs, competitive advantage and price points.
  • Compliance responsibility for all products – all required relevant documentation to be briefed to purchasing.
  • People management - managing and developing a small team
  • Supplier relationship management – developing a product focused relationship with all key suppliers
  • To keep abreast of industry changes in technology & legislation to ensure the business is protected and the future roadmap is populated.

Experience:

  • Established product manager with at least 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the consumer appliance or electronics industry is preferred, with physical product development knowledge essential.
  • Can demonstrate full product life cycle management – SKU rationalisation, NPD launches, quality & value engineering experience.
  • Comfortable building business cases and presenting to Senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness of value chains, margin analysis and P&L interpretation.
  • Project management qualification and experience of managing multiple projects at one time. This should include matrix management capabilities and proven skills working cross functionally at high levels of management.
  • An element of UK & international travel may be necessary
