Your new companyHMPPS (HM Prison and Probation Service) is the MOJ (Ministry of Justice) agency that carries out sentences given by the courts, rehabilitating people in their care through education and employment.Hays are the sole agency supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades and support staff. In this role, you will be working for HMPPS as a Prison Security Escort at HMYOI Wetherby.Your new roleYou will be responsible for:

  • Documentation of Contractors' tools and equipment
  • Escorting Contractors to their area of work ensuring all security gates/doors and locked accordingly
  • Ensuring the safe keeping of the contractors and their tools and equipment whilst work is being carried out
  • Escorting Contractors back to the main gate of the prison ensuring all security gates/doors are locked accordingly
  • Documentation of Contractors contractor's tools and equipment upon leaving the establishment to ensure nothing has been misplaced.

You will be flexibly deployed to provide a range of other support service activities within operational areas of an establishment when required. This is an operational support job with no line management responsibilities. What you'll need to succeedYou do not require any previous experience or qualifications for this role. You just need to be security conscious, able to challenge potential compromises of risk, and be reliable. Please note this role does not require you to drive.Documentation neededSecurity Clearance by the prison (Hays will organise this for you)You must hold a valid passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence at your current address. Proof of National InsuranceProof of address dated in the past 3 months.All applicants must be able to provide details of at least 3 years of satisfactory references. What you'll get in returnYou will be paid weekly, with a rate of £11.44 per hour. You will receive all the relevant training for this role and have the opportunity to gain experience in a prison environment which will enhance your chances of gaining permanent employment with the MOJ direct.Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, 7:30am till 4:45pm with a 1-hour unpaid break.
