- Assess Needs: Conduct assessments to understand family strengths, risks, and needs, creating SMART plans to ensure children’s safety and well-being.
- Child Protection: Investigate concerns and engage families in developing plans to reduce risk and keep children within their families whenever possible.
- Collaboration: Work with partner agencies and attend child-in-need and core group meetings to track and support family progress.
- Care Planning: For children unable to remain in their family homes, you’ll assist in identifying quality placements and stable, long-term homes.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate case records, assessments, and plans in line with organisational standards.
- Professional Qualification: CQSW or Diploma in Social Work (DipSW) or equivalent, recognised by the HCPC.
- Registration with the HCPC (or in process) is essential.
- Experience: Significant experience in assessing and supporting children and young people, ideally within a UK statutory setting.
- Knowledge: Up-to-date understanding of child welfare legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding principles.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with families, professionals, and partners.
- Teamwork: Excellent collaborative skills, with the ability to support colleagues and share best practices across teams.
- IT Proficiency: Competent in basic IT and numeracy skills.
- An empathetic individual with a genuine desire to empower families and improve outcomes for children.
- A motivated professional with strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to child-focused, family-centric support.
- Willingness to travel across the county, with flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work.
