We are recruiting a team of PAs on behalf of our client, a university student based in Weymouth, Dorset. He is looking for like-minded PAs to join his team and provide his personal care and independent living support. This is a great opportunity to really help make a difference to ourclients personal achievements.
Start Date: September 2024
Shift Pattern: 1 week on 1 week off with on-call - hours will be discussed during the interview/applicants need to be flexible
Location: Weymouth, Dorset (DT3) travelling to Solent Uni Southampton (SO14)
Pay & Benefits
Rate of Pay: £20 per hour = £240 per day
5.6 weeks holiday pro rata.
A UK clean driving licence is required, as you will be required to drive our client's adapted vehicle (automatic).
About our client:
Our client will be attending his first year at the University of Solent from September, where he will be studying Health, Nutrition and Exercise Science. He has a diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Crohns disease and will require support with certain aspects of life such as personal care, medication, administration and general social support.
His interests include a variety of sports, including keeping up with football. In his free time, he enjoys playing a numerous of board games and card games. He is also a huge lover of baking, anything from pastries and cakes to cookies! On the other hand he enjoys watching a mixture of programmes from medical dramas to star wars franchise.
In the near future our client would like to do hydrotherapy, therefore PAs would need to feel comfortable in water.With a joyful and delightful persona, as well as a good sense of humour, our client looks forward to starting his first year at university and finding new opportunities.

I have Duchene Muscular Dystrophy and Crohns disease which means I am in a wheelchair full time. I have a cat called Monkey who is very friendly and loves lots of attention. I like to watch lots of medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy, Chicago Med and Casualty. I love watching Clarksons Farm, Masked Singer, The Voice, A League of their own and many sports documentaries like Welcome to Wrexham. I also enjoy going to the cinema and watching films of all different types. I love all things Star Wars including all the films and series.
I support AFC Bournemouth and go to most home games and some away games. I love sports football, formula 1 (especially McLaren and Lando Norris), cricket, tennis, boxing and darts. I play powerchair football. I like to build Lego, especially Star Wars. I like to play card and board games like uno, exploding kittens, monopoly and ticket to ride.
I will need help with my hand exercises, getting into my stander, putting on my hand splints, and hydrotherapy so you will need to be good with being around water and also being able to help when I have physio sessions regarding my stander and the maintenance. At University you will provide academic support and will come to all of my lectures and seminars and take notes. I will also need you to get my books and laptop out of my bag and set the laptop up for me and type for me during lectures. I will also need assistance with gym, practical sessions and boccia and travelling to competitions

-To be comfortable around pets (our client has a pet cat)
-To be clean and tidy in both your appearance and ways
-Non-smoker and non - vaper is required
