We've got a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate and experienced Night Complex Care Worker to provide high-quality overnight care for a baby with complex medical needs. This role involves supporting tracheostomy management, ventilation via Nippy 4, and NG feeding (transitioning to PEG feeding).
Training:Initial shadowing and training will take place at Dorchester Hospital to ensure confidence and familiarity with the child’s care routines.

Key ResponsibilitiesThis is a vital overnight role, ensuring the baby’s safety, comfort, and health throughout the night. You will monitor and manage essential medical equipment and respond promptly to any changes in condition.

Tracheostomy Management:
- Provide routine tracheostomy care and suctioning to maintain a clear airway.
- Respond swiftly to any emergencies or blockages.

Ventilation Support (Nippy 4):
- Monitor the baby’s ventilation equipment to ensure optimal function and adjust settings as required (under guidance).
- Address alarms or issues promptly.

Enteral Feeding (NG and PEG):
- Administer feeds, hydration, and medications via NG tube (transitioning to PEG care).
- Perform routine care and maintenance of feeding equipment.

Oxygen Administration:
- Monitor oxygen levels and adjust flow rates as necessary to ensure appropriate saturation levels.

Vital Monitoring:
- Regularly check and document vital signs, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation, throughout the night.

Comfort and Positioning:
- Ensure the baby is comfortable and reposition as needed to prevent pressure sores or discomfort.

Parental Communication:
- Provide updates to parents and healthcare professionals as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
We are looking for a caring and attentive individual with experience in complex care, particularly with tracheostomy and ventilation management, who can work confidently and independently during night shifts.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in paediatric complex care, including tracheostomy and ventilation - Nippy 4 ventilation (preferred).
- Knowledge of NG feeding and willingness to train on PEG feeding.
- Ability to monitor and manage oxygen therapy.
- First aid and basic life support.
- Calm, reliable, and attentive under pressure.
