Lead Systems Engineer

This permanent position plays a pivotal role in overseeing engineering deliverables to ensure projects meet all design, safety, and regulatory standards within the defence industry.

• Ensuring design compliance and managing design sub-contractors
• Overseeing project design approval processes
• Ensuring safety and structural standards throughout project delivery
• Conducting test and verification activities
• Supporting the recruitment and mobilisation of the Project Engineering team
• Producing and maintaining the WTB Design and Engineering Management Plan
• Developing and implementing project-specific design and engineering processes
• Setting and managing the system of systems approach required for project delivery
• Ensuring design and engineering tasks meet timelines, budgets, and applicable standards
• Managing sub-contractor designs and ensuring compliance with project requirements
• Developing and executing Trials, Verification, and Validation Plans
• Collaborating with other departments to identify and resolve technical issues
• Promoting a mission zero safety culture within the delivery team and supply chain

• Experience in Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering
• BSc degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Active certification in an engineering professional organisation
• Professional Engineering Licensure
• Advanced understanding of engineering principles and procedures
• Knowledge and experience of System Engineering principles and practices
• Proficiency in design software packages
• Experience working with Military Organisations and associated procurement establishments
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 Management Systems and ISO 45001:2018
• Exceptional organisational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail
• Security clearance or ability to achieve it
• Understanding of CE marking of equipment systems
• Willing and able to travel within the UK and overseas, primarily within Europe
