We are recruiting for a number of Prison Security Escorts to work at HMP The Verne on Portland, Dorset for a number of upcoming projects.Your new roleAs a Security Escort working at the prison, your job will be to supervise and escort contractors around the prison whilst they are on site carrying out construction work. You will be required to ensure the safety and security of the contractors, staff and prisoners during periods where large building projects and maintenance works are being carried out on site within a HMPPS establishment. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment/ building site.The Role/ Duties

  • Checking in contractors and their tools
  • Supervision of contractors while on site
  • Patrolling perimeter and grounds
  • Searching buildings
  • Routine administrative work

What you'll need to succeedNo formal qualifications or experience are needed, however you will need to be honest, reliable and trustworthy, and enjoy working within a team. You must have a clean criminal record and must be able to pass full prison vetting before being able to start the role.What you'll get in returnThe prison offers free parking and uniform, and full training will be provided on your first week.Working Hours : Monday to Friday (37 hours per week minimum). This is the standard shift pattern, however individual contracts may vary.Hourly rate:For the first 37 hours a week that is worked, you will get £11.44 per hour plus hourly holiday pay. Any hours worked that exceed 37 will be paid at £15.22 per hour plus hourly holiday pay.Holiday: All vacancies offer 33 days annual leave.This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain a career within the prison service, as it will give you a wider understanding of what working in a prison is like and how the jobs work.
