Job Title: Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer
Location: Whitby

My client are a leading food manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer(Electrical Bias) to join our dynamic maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have both electrical and mechanical expertise to maintain, repair, and optimize the performance of our production machinery and systems. This role is key to ensuring minimal downtime and high operational efficiency in a fast-paced, 24/7 food production environment.

You will be responsible for responding to breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and implementing continuous improvements to enhance production processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reactive Maintenance: Respond swiftly to breakdowns, diagnose and resolve both electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Conduct planned preventive maintenance (PPM) to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment, reducing the risk of unplanned outages.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs: Carry out effective repairs and troubleshooting on a wide range of equipment, including conveyors, mixers, pumps, and packaging machinery.
  • PLC & Automation: Work with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automated systems, diagnosing and resolving faults related to control panels, motors, sensors, and drives.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure the smooth operation of production lines and proactive resolution of equipment issues.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications:

  • 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable but not essential).

  • Time-served apprenticeship in engineering or a relevant technical discipline.

  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in both electrical and mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing environment, ideally in the food, FMCG, or packaging industries.
    • Familiarity with PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.) and an ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and mechanical schematics.
    • Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
    • Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP) and health & safety compliance.
  • Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Hands-on experience with both mechanical and electrical tools and equipment.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues across different departments.
