As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), you will play a pivotal role in supporting classroom teaching and learning activities. You will collaborate closely with teachers, provide guidance to other teaching assistants, and lead instructional sessions to enhance students' educational experience.

Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to contribute to the academic and personal growth of students from diverse backgrounds.

 

The role and responsibilities:

  • Lead small group instruction under the guidance of teachers
  • Assist in planning and preparing lessons and learning resources
  • Support the implementation of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt materials as needed
  • Provide one-on-one support to students who require additional assistance
  • Assist in assessing student progress and maintaining records of achievement
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support in the supervision of students during break times and outings
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to develop and implement effective teaching strategies
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities

 

The ideal candidate: 

  • Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively lead small group activities and provide guidance to other support staff
  • Understanding of curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the changing needs of the classroom
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students of diverse abilities
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
