Classroom Support Assistant - Whitchurch, Near Andover

We are seeking a dedicated, full-time Classroom Support Assistant to join a primary school in Whitchurch, near Andover. If you have transferable skills, a proactive attitude, and knowledge of supporting children's educational or developmental needs, this could be the ideal role for you.

About the Role:

As a Classroom Support Assistant, you will work closely with students aged 4-11, including those with additional learning needs. You will collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Your primary role will be to assist with academic support, as well as offering tailored help for students who may require additional guidance in their learning or emotional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide academic and developmental support to primary school students, including those with special educational needs.
  • Offer one-on-one and small group support to enhance students' confidence, engagement, and overall learning progress.
  • Assist in creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment that fosters emotional and social development.
  • Help students remain focused and motivated, reinforcing lessons and building academic resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure students' individual needs are met.
  • Play an active role in supporting the holistic development of students, both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Promote a positive and encouraging atmosphere that enhances children's growth, learning, and personal development.

The Ideal Candidate:

This role is suited for an individual who brings some experience in child development or childcare, alongside a genuine passion for supporting children’s education. The ideal candidate will be proactive, patient, and eager to learn while contributing their knowledge of children's needs in a classroom setting.

You should have:

  • Previous experience or knowledge of supporting children’s learning and development (e.g., in childcare, teaching, or tutoring).
  • The ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • A flexible, adaptable approach to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Patience and empathy to work with students of various abilities and backgrounds.
  • A strong desire to contribute positively to the personal and academic growth of children.
  • Knowledge of classroom management strategies and supporting social-emotional development is a plus.
