Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced learning and competency manager to be engaged on a permanent basis in Whitehaven, Cumbria.

We are seeking a Training and Competency Manager to join our Cumbrian Consortium team in West Cumbria as an integral part of our Management Team, where you will play a pivotal role in maintaining our commitment to stringent contractual, regulatory and legislative standards.

Your expertise will be instrumental in evaluating, enhancing, and crafting training strategies that bolster our capabilities and compliance in line with our contractual requirements to the Client.

You will serve as the primary liaison for all training-related inquiries, providing essential support to managers, colleagues and stakeholders throughout the contract.

This dynamic position offers the opportunity to collaborate with professionals within the business and the wider Nuclear and Facilities management community, which may involve occasional travel.

The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:

  • Act as a key contact for training and competency queries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • To develop and maintain training & competency documentation in line with our and the clients' policies and processes.
  • Support Managers in ensuring appropriate training and competency/SQEP documents are applied to all areas, processes, and staff.
  • Provide managers with the correct diagnostics to identify training & competency needs for their teams.
  • Develop a robust competency review and assessment model for all roles to meet the requirements of the client SQEP framework.
  • Assist in preparing for audits, including the recording, tracking and completion of associated actions/non-conformance resolution.
  • To conduct reviews and provide reports through analysis of data to help inform training and competency priorities.
  • To remain up to date with latest client training and competency practices and processes.
  • Assist in the management of and delivery of training and competency systems and processes to ensure continued staff compliance.
  • Devise and lead on training that meets staff and directorate business needs.
  • Line management responsibility for training coordinator and administrative personnel.

Essential

  • Educated to degree level OR equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Ability to work across functional boundaries.
  • Has a sound understanding of compliance and working in a regulated industry.
  • Previous experience and good working knowledge of Competency assessment models.
  • Communication - be able to convey instructions, ideas and opinions clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences.
  • High level of self-motivation to deliver required work objectives and outcomes.
  • Be eligible to achieve SC Clearance.


Desirable

  • Evidence of using technical experience to innovate and initiate change in practice.
  • Evidence of training and supervisory/Line Management experience.
  • Has thorough knowledge and understanding of Site Licence conditions and Management of Contractor processes.
