Prospero Teaching are looking for a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to inspire and support pupils in one of our excellent Secondary Schools in North Tyneside. The role is to start ASAP and is full-time and long-term. The hours for the role are 08.30-15.30 Monday to Friday.

The role will involve working across Secondary School year groups to support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour, so the successful candidate will need to be a resilient practitioner and have excellent relationship-building skills. Another important part of the role will be for the successful Candidate to build positive relationships with Class Teachers to plan and deliver learning activities that are suited to the needs of all pupils.

The role will involve supporting the pupils with their learning on both a 1:1 basis, and in small groups through the planning and delivery of intervention lessons to promote and boost the progress of all pupils.

This role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils across Secondary School age groups with challenging behaviour and SEND on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
  • Building positive relationships with Class Teachers to support pupils and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress.
  • Stretching and challenging pupils of all ability levels
  • Using a range of strategies to assess pupil progress
  • Preparing resources for lessons.
  • Supervising pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
  • Having a "hands on" approach to supporting the pupils in their learning, with a willingness to interact, engage and form a positive rapport with pupils.

This role requires:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • Ideally either QTS or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature
  • Experience of supporting pupils within a Secondary School setting
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
  • An enthusiastic approach and a willingness to engage with and form positive relationships with pupils.
