CNC Milling Setter

Location: Whitstable, Kent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, rolling weekly shift pattern

  • Early Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Late Shift: Monday to Thursday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Friday 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Role Overview

As a CNC Milling Setter, your primary responsibility will be setting and operating 3-axis CNC milling machines to manufacture small to medium-sized components, ensuring high-quality standards and on-time delivery. You will also utilise other CNC and manual machines to finish parts for internal assembly lines, contributing to the overall production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-quality components.
  • Use additional CNC and manual machines for finishing pre-machined parts.
  • Inspect work against engineering drawings using precision measuring equipment.
  • Report any quality defects or issues to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks, ensuring machines meet 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Optimise production efficiencies by reducing set-up and cycle times while monitoring tool life.
  • Perform de-burring, cleaning, final inspections, and maintain traceability documentation.
  • Assist with any other tasks as required to support the machine shop team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in setting and operating CNC 3-axis milling machines.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and the use of measuring equipment.
  • Good understanding of machine maintenance, with a focus on 5S standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently, meeting deadlines without compromising on quality.
