We are supporting a market leading manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Training Officer to provide maternity cover.

The successful applicant will be responsible for taking a strategic approach to training, assessing the skills and knowledge within the business and determining what training is needed to grow and retain these skills. Either designing and delivering the training directly or arranging for third-party trainers.

This role requires you to work 24-hour working week, Tuesday to Thursday 08:00 to 16:30.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Further develop the apprenticeship programme across the business. This includes full time apprentice’s as well as up skilling existing employees - provide the link between the training provider and the business to ensure the effectiveness of the programme.
  • Manage the recruitment of new apprentices.
  • Expand internship roles across the business, supporting universities and opportunities within the business.
  • Working as the liaison between school and colleges ensuring work experience students are managed effectively and careers events are well supported.
  • Identify training and development needs within the business. Designing and managing training and development programmes based on the needs of the business and the individual.
  • Plan and assess the 'return on investment' of any training or development programme, considering the costs of planned programmes and keeping within budgets.
  • Develop effective induction programmes for new employees.
  • Devise individual learning plans where needed.
  • Amend and revise programmes as necessary, to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment and industry developments.
  • Manage the training budget and monitor monthly expenditure.
