This is your chance to join a team committed to safeguarding and improving the lives of children and their families.The Role:As a Social Worker, you’ll manage a caseload of varying complexities, providing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of actions that promote the welfare of children and families.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling diverse and complex Children & Families cases.
  • Partnering with statutory, private, and voluntary agencies to secure positive outcomes.
  • Producing high-quality assessments, reports, and care plans while adhering to best practices and relevant legislation.
  • Staying updated on child development theories and their application to practice.
  • Representing children’s welfare in court when required.
  • Supporting foster carers and adoptive parents in specialised teams (where applicable).
  • Contributing to training initiatives and mentoring less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work (DipSW or equivalent).
  • Registration with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
  • Completion of ASYE if post-qualification exceeds two years.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in Children & Families social work.
  • Familiarity with systemic models of practice, such as Signs of Safety.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex caseloads independently.
  • Competence in report writing and high-quality assessments.
  • Familiarity with child protection, fostering, adoption, and related legislation.
  • Confidence in navigating court settings.

Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of attachment theory, child development, and family dynamics.
  • Knowledge of legislation and policies regarding Looked After Children, Children in Need, and safeguarding.
