Hours of Work: Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 16:30, Friday 08:00 - 15:30

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking General Operative to join our clients team at their plant nursery. This role involves various tasks related to the growth, maintenance, and care of plants and flowers in an outdoor environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and a willingness to work in a physically demanding role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plant Care: Assist in planting, watering, and maintaining plants and flowers to ensure optimal growth.
  • Weeding & Pruning: Regularly weed and prune plants to promote healthy growth and aesthetics.
  • Soil Management: Prepare and manage soil conditions for planting, including tilling and adding fertilizers as needed.
  • Pest Control: Monitor plants for signs of pests and diseases, and assist in implementing treatment plans.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain nursery equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition.
  • Inventory Management: Help with the organisation and management of plant inventory, including labeling and tracking stock levels.
  • Customer Service: Support customers by providing information on plant care and assisting with sales as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Previous experience in horticulture, landscaping, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure plants are cared for properly.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
